Canadamerica is a superpower that was formed in the year 2012, as a result of a merger between Canada and the United States of America. The new confederation was formed under the Hillary Clinton administration after the Canadian Civil War. Its power and influence rank 2nd in the world behind the European Union but ahead of People's Republic of China and India. In 2018, under the Edwards administration it waged the Carribean War, where Canadamerica managed to win the war by the year 2042 (under the Hunter administration) and annex the entire Carribean area and Central America (despite massive student protest against the war).

On January 1, 2019, Windsor and Detroit merge to become one city, Windroit. Exactly one year later, the two Niagara Falls would unite under a single municipal government. As a result of this, the Casino Windsor was renamed Casino Windroit in order to not confuse patrons. Casino dealers, pit bosses, managers, and executives alike had to learn a new currency system as the old Canadian and American dollars became invalid on January 1, 2022. Fortunately for gamblers, all winnings on casino earnings, game shows, and contests are considered by Canadamerican law to be "tax free."

The 2020s would see the remnants of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the U.S. Marshals slowly combine their manpower, budgets, and skills to become the Canadamerican Republic Mounted Police. Although this arrangement would not be finalized until the summer of 2028, criminals prowling the city streets and rural highways would cower in fear of the efficiency of this new national police force, which would quickly earn the nickname "cramps." This moniker was earned because they would often arrest a criminal in a very quick and surgical manner. The 2020s would also see women replace their bras with camisoles, just like their great-great-grandmothers replaced their corsets with bras during the 1920s. This "sexual revolution" would divide daughters and mothers for years to come. Eventually, bras were no longer considered mainstream by the mid 2040s, and daughters, mothers, and granddaughters alike were wearing camisoles instead of bras by the 2050s.

From the year 2030 to the year 2043, Canadamerica also supported the 2nd Cuban Revolution which was considered to be one of the major campaigns in the Carribean War. By the 22nd century, this nation will be absorbed into the United States of Earth and be represented by their global parliament. In the year 2091, Canadamerica passed a constitutional amendment preventing men from voting in elections or holding political office, due to their frequent tendencies to engage in warfare. In hindsight, it was thought that if suborbital weapons were not used, then Canadamerica would not have been able to kill 10000 enemy soldiers for every Canadamerican soldier that died on the front lines. Also, Canadamerica would have been forced to withdraw from the war at that point and communism would have regained some international prestige.

After acquiring Mexico as a territory, Canadamerica enhanced its "developing capitalist" government. Civil servants with ties to the military and relatives of known convicts were removed from vital government positions. All private roads (excluding driveways for residential units) were nationalized so that drugs could not freely be shipped by employees of major drug lords. By the year 2067, nearly all transporting and sales of illegal drugs and corruption was removed from Mexico due to more stable governmental authority and less reliance on the military-industrial complex. Also, rent-a-cops that had to be literally bought in order to receive police services were removed in favor of tax-sponsored police units that serves everyone, not just the wealthy business people, the tourists, and the five star hotels.

At the same time, Mexico managed to transform 98.5% of their water into "clean potable water," bringing an end to an era where tourists were advised to not drink the water. This rapid development combined with the refinement of Mexico's capitalist democracy meant that Mexico was finally taking the war on drugs seriously. By the year 2090, Mexico was considered to be free of drug lords and a territory of the least corrupt nation on the face of the planet.

The capital city of Canadamerica is Lincoln, Nebraska. The reason that Lincoln was chosen over Washington, D.C. or Ottawa, Ontario is that the small city is centrally located in the North American continent. Also, the city didn't have the corruption or close proximity to corrupt organizations as the former American capital, and the location has an equal share of liberal and conservative residents.

Canadamerica's government type will be a liberal democracy and will have a population of over 350 million people. By the year 2050, Canadamerica will have 62 states and numerous territories and protectorates worldwide, including Bermuda (protectorate), Mexico (Canadamerican territory), Greenland (protectorate), and Tasmania (protectorate). The official languages of Canadamerica will be English, with French & Spanish as national languages. Citizens of Canadamerica will be referred to as Canadamericans, or C.A.s, and the national old age pension will be referred to as the Canadamerican Pension Plan (CPP). This pension is given in a reduced amount to people between the ages of 55 to 64, and in an unreduced amount to people who are 65 years of age or older.

In order to be eligible to vote in a Canadamerican general election, one must be not guilty of a felony (a person's voting rights are restored six months after the termination of a prison sentence for a misdemeanor). He or she must possess an IQ of at least 100 in order to vote at 16 years of age, and being autistic doesn't prevent a person from voting - as autistic savants possess an IQ of more than 100. People whose IQ level is below 100 can still vote, but must wait until they are at least 18 years of age.

Canadamerica's currency will be the Canadamerican dollar, which will be considered to be valid currency in the states, territories, and protectorates of Canadamerica. The dollar will exchange itself at a great deal with the Euro and the British pound, and with a reasonable expense for the Japanese yen and the Chinese yuan. As with all decimalized currency, 100 Canadamerican cents will equal 1 Canadamerican dollar.

[edit] Gay rights in Canadamerica

Civil unions will be recognized nationwide. Any anti-homosexuality laws currently in place by the states, territories, and protectorates of Canadamerica will be immediately repealed after officially becoming a member of the Republic of Canadamerica. Same-sex common law couples will receive near identical benefits to heterosexual common law couples, regardless of where they live in Canadamerica. Discrimination against the employment of homosexuals will deliver fines and/or imprisonment to the employer(s), regardless of the occupation or industry of the workplace.

However, they will not be allowed to adopt children younger than 6 years of age. The reason behind this is that children in their first five years of life need to learn from both a female and a male role model and having two male or two female parents can alter the development of a young child significantly, either making him too masculine or too effeminate. In response to gay rights protesters suggesting that this law is still unfair, adoption agencies will go holistic and declare that this law is "for the good for the mind, body, and soul of the child."

[edit] Canadamerican Health Care System

Canadamerica will have an universal health care system. All emergency operations and maternity (including artificial wombs and human cloning procedures) will be free via the use of a nationwide health card. There will be three types of Canadamerican health cards: silver, gold, and VIP. Silver cards don't have an annual fee but are only good in Canadamerica proper (Canada and the United States). Gold cards have a $100/year fee and are valid in the territories (but not protectorates) of Canadamerica as well as in Canadamerica proper. VIP health cards cost $1,000/year and can be used in all the states, territories, and protectorates of Canadamerica.

[edit] Canadamerican men's national soccer team

During the 2020 FIFA World Cup (rescheduled from 2018 due to temporary international turmoil), Canadamerica (consisting mostly of players from the former American national soccer team) won more games than they have lost, and won the World Cup finals by defeating England with a score of 2-1. This will be credited to a national soccer program, funding the sport from the toddler level all the way to the national U-17 clubs, U-20 clubs, and to the Major League Soccer organization. By the 2030s, they will have earned 4 consecutive gold medals in the Olympic Games.

However, the retirement of a crucial midfielder in the year 2065 will finally end the winning dynasty of the Canadamerican men's national soccer team. Since then, Canadamerica has only been to the World Cup three times (2066, 2074, and 2082), and they have never advanced past the semi-final after losing the best midfielder in all of Canadamerican soccer history. Children and grandchildren from the Canadamerican men's national soccer team would eventually become elite all-stars in the interplanetary soccer league and lead the United States of Earth to many victories against the Alpha Centauri Trackers and the Mars Rovers.

NASCAR will remain as one of the major fixtures of Canadamerican popular culture even though most of its sanctioned race tracks will be destroyed in the Canadian Civil War by bomber planes and Canadian rebels. The reconstruction of these speedways after the war will boost NASCAR's popularity in Canadamerica by 400%. Due to its multicultural heritage, Canadamerica will also be the biggest market for world music. Desperate attempts will be made both during and after the civil war to keep the NHL, Major League Soccer, Major League Baseball, the NFL, and the NBA profitable and in business. It would be considered bad morale for any of these leagues to suspend their operations during the war.

The 2028 Summer Olympics in South Africa would give Canadamerica some pride and gold medals in events like war games, American football, stock car racing, and acquiring 4th place in the massive multiplayer online role playing event (just ahead of England but behind Korea). However, with these medals came with a price. 33% of all male athletes in the 2028 Summer Olympic Games would perish in the Carribean War as conscripts, fighting a war similar to the Vietnam War of the 1960s, except it's closer to home, and only suborbital weapons managed to help Canadamerica avoid defeat.

American Idol and Canadian Idol will merge sometime in the 2020s to become Canadamerican Idol. Ruben Studdard and Ryan Malcolm will split hosting duties, and there will be six judges instead of three. In the satellite television world, Star Choice and DirecTV will merge to become Direct Choice. Its competitor will be ExpressDish, which will be the result of a merge between Bell ExpressVu and Dish Network.

Until television was banned globally in the year 2040, popular television programs in Canadamerica included Deal or No Deal (the show was forced to scrap its female models in 2010 due to production costs - that portion of the show was replaced with voice-activated crystal balls that revealed the prize amount), Canadamerican Idol, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, and Hockey Night in Canadamerica. Major television stations included Canadamerican Broadcasting System (CBS), Canadamerican Television (CTV), National Broadcasting Company (NBC), and the Canadamerican Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). FOX decided to return to exclusively making motion pictures and ABC (American Broadcasting Company) was forced to go into bankruptcy because of the economic damage caused in the Canadian Civil War.

There are many cultural centers in Canadamerica including Vancouver, New York, Toronto, Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. However in the year 2037, Simcoe, Ontario became a major cultural center with a population of over 30,000 people (combined with the rest of Norfolk County would make it just over 78,000 people). This progress started back in 2008 when the tobacco farmers were forcibly bought out in order to add more factories, stores, office buildings and housing for the industrial workers that replace the tobacco farms. Another action that transformed Simcoe from a retirement community to a cultural center was the radical plan in the year 2017 to transform the entire downtown shopping area from a car-friendly "Main Street" environment into a huge shopping mall so that people can buy stuff without having to cross the street. By 2027, this downtown shopping mall forced all the other shopping malls in Simcoe to shut down because all the youthful stores were lured to this location. Therefore, all the profits returned to the downtown.
