Future:Style Guide
From Future
[edit] Style tips
Science Fiction is part of Futurism, so new science fiction articles are welcome. They are considered as Scenarios of the future.
[edit] Entries should be:
- about the future ;
- believable (based on judgment or facts) ;
- written in good style .
When you don't have time or ability to write a good entry, just dropping a link or two also helps. At least the next person would know where to begin.
[edit] The Ideal article
An ideal article should define a term, briefly describe its history and present, provide several sections on state-of-the-art achievements, with links to articles, companies, etc., as well as illustrations (images uploaded to Future Wiki). Then a general forecast section, with good arguments and links to forecasts by experts and a timeline. Finally, references, see also links and general links should be given.
[edit] Scenarios
Scenarios should be placed on pages that start with "Scenario:". Example: Scenario:We all gonna die. Add {{scenario}} at the top of the article. If you encounter a really wild and unlikely scenario, remark it as {{speculation}}. Note that transhumanist developments are considered likely here. See Category:Degree of confidence for examples.
[edit] Predictions
If you are making a prediction article, you may add the following code to the top of your article. By doing so, you agree to adher to the principles set forth at Template:Commencement2.
{{Template:Disclaimer}}{{Template:Commencement1}}Signed, ~~~~{{Template:Commencement2}}
[edit] What Not To Do
- Don't add irrelevant entries that do not describe the future.
- Don't add unjustified random speculative predictions.
- Don't add things that are just your opinion.
- Don't add things that are banal or boring.
- If you don't know what you are writing about, it may be a good idea to enlist another editor's help before attempting to continue, or leave it up to them instead.
