Freedom from instincts
From Future
Humans are hardwired to exhibit some behaviors; this is called instinct. Today, instincts like sexual desire and hunger are beneficial. However, for a transhuman who can optimize his behaviour better than natural evolution could, those instincts would be limiting.
If they choose to control their instincts tightly, love, sex and food may not mean as much to transhumans as they did to us. They could choose to ignore such instincts, or they could decide that they want to keep them.
As a transhuman, knowing what heroin or love does neurochemically to the human brain, you could let those neurochemical effects run their natural course, to stimulate them artificially, or to inhibit them. You could simulate the rush of love or prevent yourself from feeling it.
